Are you a morning person? Retired? Stay at home parent? Have a job that leaves a few mornings up to you?
Consider volunteering for one of our morning shifts. Many of our volunteers say these are the best 'cat lover' shifts. They are quiet and you'll get plenty of time to spend with all the cats as the shifts are all about hands-on care! Start your day with a little cat retreat!

    Love dogs?
We have lots of dogs in our adoption program. We need volunteers on the weekends that can walk the dogs and socialize with them. If you have an extra hour or two on Saturday or Sunday please come down and play with the dogs!

Good with people? Can you spot a good home for an animal?
Consider becoming one of our adoption counselors. There are few feelings to compare to placing an animal that has been through so much in their loving forever home.

The success of our program wouldn't be possible without you. We thank you for spending your valuable volunteer time with us. Hope to see you soon!

    FOSTER OPPORTUNITIES

What can make the difference between an animal getting into the lifesaving Friends For Life program and not?

    YOU!

Do you have room in your heart and home for an animal to stay with you temporarily?

We are seeking fosters to help us help even more animals. We have dogs, cats, kittens, puppies and other animals who are waiting to come into the lifesaving FFL program. They must wait until we have a foster home.

    What is fostering?
Fostering means that an animal stays with you on a temporary basis. The animal still belongs to FFL so you do not actually have to adopt but be more like a waystation on road from stray to adopted.

Fostering includes bringing the animal to some adoption hours (you never have to stay with them--we'll do that), helping with transport to the vet when possible and generally giving them a safe, loving place to be while they seek that forever home.

    What animals need fostering?
You decide what type, what species, size and age you would like to care for. We have requests to place nursing babies, adults and seniors. The animals are mostly kittens, puppies, dogs and cats. But we have had ferrets, chinchillas, birds, pigs, a lamb, rabbits and other unusual animals. The opportunities are limited only by what you have training and desire to do.

    What does it cost?
    Short answer: nothing.
While any foster may donate any portion they feel inclined (hey, we'll never turn down help..we are no fools...) Friends for Life will pay all costs for food, milk, supplies and vet care needed. We'll supply crates, carriers and even cat boxes. You supply the love !

    What do I get?
You get the unconditional love of an animal who needs you in order to stay alive. You get to be a life-changing force for good. This is 'Who wants to be a Superhero' for real !!

You get our deep gratitude for opening your heart and your home to an animal in need.

Oh...and you get also get a really cool T-shirt that will let everyone know that you stepped up to save lives.

Does it really matter if I do this?
More than you can imagine. FFL gets almost 100 requests for help with animals each day. The unvarnished truth is this: The number we can save from staying in abusive situations or dying in other shelters is directly dependent on how many foster homes we have.

Do you want to see just a small sample of a few of the hundreds of FFL animals whose lives have already been saved by having foster parents ? Of course you do. Check out our success stories page and see the lives saved !

    Where do you start?
If you have room in your heart and room in your home for an animal seeking that forever family please email us at nokill8@hotmail.com and let's save some animals together! Our staff will be able to let you know which animals are currently in the greatest need and match just the right animal with your foster home.
