December 2005 Adoptions
Stormy
A wonderful volunteer rescued Stormy out of a storm drain. He was feral and scared of people for several months, but after dedicating almost a year to socializing him, he became this big bundle of love. He grew to enjoy not only people, but other cats, dogs and children.
A wonderful man came in looking to adopt an adult kitty as a friend for his cat. He other male had passed away after a very long life and his kitty was lonely. After spending only a couple days at home with Stormy he stopped by the Petsmart to report that Stormy and his current feline friend were getting along amazingly well in such a short amount of time.
A wonderful new chapter in Stormy's life. It sure beats life in the storm drain.
Freebie
A nice lady picked up Freebie on the streets. He is a little apricot poodle mix who was found completely matted and had oil covering him. We will never know if someone poured the oil on him, or if he got himself into a little mess….but lucky for Freebie he has a wonderful new home to call his own. He was adopted by a very nice lady that just loves him to pieces.
UPDATE: January 22, 2006
Freebie (Now known as Bruce) is thriving in his new home. His mom stopped by the Petsmart to do a little shopping and she reports he is working out very well with her dog and she just adores him!
Peanut
Peanut is a little terrier mix puppy (about 8 months old) who came into our program because her owner could no longer care for her. One of our amazing foster parents took on the task of fostering her and bringing her to adoptions. Well, this little bundle of spunk was adopted her very first time at adoptions!!
A great couple who had been looking for a new dog for months came in that day and fell completely in love with Peanut. They spent so much time talking to the volunteers about her, played with her and took her on a walk.
She has a fantastic new home with parents that spoil her like crazy!!
Colleen & Calvin
These two bundles of love are the last of Claudia's kittens. If you remember, Claudia is the Siamese/Tabby mix who had her (gorgeous) babies in the evacuation shelter. They were almost a week old when Salise and Debra brought them back from Pass Christian, MS. Her other two kittens, Carmen & Cratchett were adopted in November. We couldn't have asked for a nicer family for these two. And we were so excited that they got a home together.
Their new (human) mommy is even named Claudia!! What luck. They fell madly in love with these babies and couldn't split the pair.
UPDATE: January 31, 2006
I saw their parents this evening (the babies are now known as Bono & Poppy) and are thrilled with the two. They report the kittens get bigger every single day. Here is a picture of the two from about mid-January. Adorable!
Lucky Blackie
Lucky Blackie was stranded in the Lowe's parking lot. Lucky for him, a really nice lady came to his rescue and brought him to Friends For Life for adoption. Everyone knows that it sometimes takes a little while for larger black dogs to get adopted.
Again, lucky for this larger black lab mix, he was adopted after only coming to adoptions for a few weeks!
A really great guy who has a rescued yellow lab mix girl was moving to a new home and wanted a friend for his girl! The two dogs met and really hit it off. Now Lucky Blackie (now known as Basil) has a great new lab sister and a wonderful dad to share his home with!
Sammy
Sammy is a little grey tabby kitten, the last of Carla's babies to be adopted. For those of you who don't know Carla….let me get you up to speed. Carla was brought into FFL by two great kids who worked at the Olive Garden. She is feral and was living with the kittens at the Olive Garden. These wonderful people managed to trap her and her kittens and get them to us. Even being totally feral, Carla let us handle the kittens immediately. They were very social and young and not at all feral. Sammy's brother and sister got adopted quickly but Sammy took a little more time.
We are happy to report the nicest couple (whom adopted another tabby from us a year ago) wanted to bring another stripped bundle of kitten into their home.
We are so happy to know that Sammy is in good hands, with his kitty and human family members.
Update: January 2006
Carla's (Sammy's mom) has been in her foster home for about a month now. She is showing progress little by little and is trusting more and more. We have an amazing volunteer who dedicates her time and home to fostering this feral momma for us. I saw Carla the other day and she is looking wonderful. She is showing true progress. YAY for Carla.
